Today started like any other morning but then I decided to read Parker and Katelyn a few books which as a mom I know I should be doing but it always seems like there isn't enough time to do it but I figured I better make time. I know reading to them can help their brains to develop and become imaginative and with Parker getting ready to start preschool I figured I better start doing some reading! Of the 3 I read to them this morning my 2 personal favorites were:
While The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein is a classic it had been a long while since I had read it!
You Are Special by Max Lucado was by far my personal favorite though. Honestly when I first started reading this book I didn't get how it was going to have such a big message to it but in the end it pulled through with a strong one, this is a book I would love to have here at home where I can read it for many years to come to Parker and Katelyn just to remind them that God makes all of us special! It reminded me that I shouldn't worry about what other people think of me and that I should only worry about what God thinks of me! In the Bible and I can't remember the verse right now but it says God doesn't make mistakes, he made each and every person on earth just the way he wanted them and made them according to his plan. It also reminded me that God, Our Creator, longs for us to come back to him everyday and to seek him to follow his will!
I also created some sticker charts this morning and I am hoping that these can help with Katelyn's potty training and just to reward both of them for good behavior that if they see they are getting rewards for their good behavior that eventually they would stop doing it just for the reward but just out of obedience. I can tell it is going to help some just by what I have seen so far this morning but I still think I got a long road ahead of getting things in order at home but at least its a start.
